A 24-Year-Old mother has been accused of cannibalism after she was allegedly caught biting her newborn baby's arm in a Hospital ward in Shenzhen, southern China.
Nurse Liu Tianlun said that she was doing her rounds at the hospital when she saw the newly mom Li Zhenghua eagerly tries to eat her own baby.
When the nurse saw what was happening, she urgently asked for help and attempted to stop Zhenghua from successfully closing her jaw while biting the infant's arm. But she refused to let go, so the hospital staff was forced to sedate and restrain her to save the baby.
A hospital spokesman said: "It was really shocking, the arm was badly damaged and suffered not only heavy bruising but bleeding as a result of the bite. Fortunately, doctors managed to insert something to stop her closing her teeth and then levered her jaw apart."
It was believed that Zhenghua has been living on the streets for weeks before being taken to the hospital. She was thrown out by her mother-in-law after finding out that she's pregnant.
The hospital staff is now deciding whether to return the baby to his mother or not while the investigation of the authorities is being processed.
It is truly heart-breaking seeing these babies suffering and struggling with their lives because of their inconsiderate parents.
